Your Stay
No one looks forward to a hospital stay, but at Grandview Medical Center, we work hard to make sure your visit is as pleasant as possible. Here are a few things you should know that can help make your time with us restful and healing.
Patient Communication
Grandview Medical Center is the first hospital in Alabama to deploy virtual patient and clinician communication systems within private patient rooms. One such technology is the eCareBoard, a digital whiteboard displayed on the wall that replaces the manual dry erase board. eCareBoard engages patients by communicating individualized information including care providers, goals, diet orders, allergies, scheduled tests and more.
eCareBoard also communicates key patient care information to care providers at a glance, including preferred name, contact information and any information involving special assistance needs.
This system also aligns with Grandview Medical Center's efforts to improve the overall healing experience. The lightweight device promotes mobility. Patients are able to get out of bed, walk around, shower and undergo physical therapy – all while remaining connected to clinicians.
Flowers and Mail
Any mail or flowers addressed to you will be delivered to your room. Any mail received after you have been discharged will be forwarded to your home address. Flowers are not allowed in the intensive care units.
Nutritional Care
After your doctor has ordered your diet, a food service hostess will bring a menu to your room to let you know what's being served for each meal. You may select alternate meals if they coordinate with your dietary restrictions. A registered dietitian is also available for consultation and special diet instructions.
Pharmacy
A Walgreens store is located in the Grandview Physicians Plaza on the first floor if you would like to purchase your medications prior to leaving the hospital.
Valuables
Please leave all personal valuables at home or send them home with a friend or family member. Grandview Medical Center is not responsible for personal valuables for patients, family members and those who may visit you while you are a patient in our hospital. Security can only store personal valuables that are small enough to fit in the safe.
